The Austin Ukulele Society (AUS) is all about enjoying the ukulele and having fun with people who share our affection for this wonderful instrument.
Our mission is to:
- Provide a supportive environment to share and learn new songs and build playing skills;
- Spread the word about opportunities to see and hear musicians who play or compose for the ukulele;
- Promote the ukulele in the “Live Music Capital of the World” through performances and education; and, of course,
- Have fun!
To become a member, just show up at one of our monthly meetings. There is no fee to participate. All are welcome to join – from beginners to experienced players.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month, 7:00 to 8:30pm. During our meetings we have group sing-and-strum-a-longs and educational sessions; we learn a new song at every meeting. We also set aside time for a brief “open mic” for individuals to get up and share a solo tune (purely voluntary!).
In addition to our monthly meetings, the AUS has their hand in many ukulele activities around Austin including open mic nights, flash mobs, live performances, community/charitable efforts, and more.
Bob Guz and Jen Richardson, the Austin Ukulele Society’s co-founders, warmly invite you to join the fun! Come play music, make new friends, learn new songs and strums, and have a great time.
Contact us if you would like to be added to our mailing list. We’ll keep you up-to-date on our meetings and other ukulele-related activities around Austin. Like us on FaceBook here and visit our YouTube Channel.
We hope to see you soon!
